Welcome (Willkommen)
The Anglo-German Family History Society welcomes all those who are interested in researching the genealogy or family history of people from the German-speaking parts of Europe who have emigrated over the centuries and settled in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland (North and South), and the neighbouring islands.
We are a self-help group with considerable expertise and resources, and new members are always welcome. Please take the time to look around the site. If you experience any problems, please see our help section.
To find information about any issues with the website, latest updates, new items or delays in updating please see the website information page. If you have submitted an item or have requested name interests be added or amended please check the website information before contacting again.
Fluent German reader required
Peter and Jenny Towey have their house up for sale and would like to downsize. Consequently they would like someone else to house and manage the German language books and German Family History Society magazines of the Society's library.
If you have a spare room at home and would be prepared to house these publications and occasionally write articles for the 'Blatt then please get in touch with either of them. (contact details inside back cover of our magazine)
Budding librarian with a spare room?
Do you fancy becoming the Society's next librarian? Due to Peter and Jenny Towey's house move they would like someone to take over the role of Society librarian. We are attempting to split the role into two – one person to care for the German language publications (see advert elsewhere in this 'Blatt) and another to take over the English language books.
You will require a large spare room and a computer – as there are a lot of books and we use a website entitled "LibraryThing" as our catalogue. Requested publications are posted out at Society expense and then returned by the borrower.
P&J are hoping to weed the library of out-of-date magazines (these items will be offered for sale at WDYTYA?Live and the June meeting) and attempt to update LibraryThing before they move.
If you are interested in this role then do please get in touch with either of them asap (contact details inside back cover).
