Christmas Social

Summer is sadly over, but never mind because coming up after the meeting on 8 December we will be holding our usual Christmas social.
This is a fun occasion, when there will be plenty of time to chat and get to know one another better and of course to enjoy delicious authentic German food, take part in our quiz and get in the mood for the festive season.
The event costs £9.50 and must be booked in advance, with the closing date being 23 November.

The Islington Meister Singers
8 December 2007
It is hoped that, as an extra festive treat, a group of singers will be at our meeting on 8 December to entertain us.
It is not finalised as yet at which point in the programme they will sing. It will most likely be during the latter half of the tea break or else after the speakers.
As our usual party will follow the meeting it is hoped most people will be able to enjoy the event, even if it takes place after the talks.

The conference will be introduced by Dr Simon Thurley, President of LAMAS, who will also present the Annual Local History Publications Award.
There will be talks on subjects including "The rise and fall of the German Community of London, c.1815-1918", as well as displays of recent work and publications by local history societies.
