1.30: Herring, Dahl and Apple Crumble: A Childhood in Germany — Meike Laurenson, member
This is the story of a current immigrant, and may give us a few clues about the experiences of our ancestors.
2.20: Islington Meistersingers
3.30: Tracing Your Ancestors Through Medical Records — Dr. Carole Reeves, UCL Centre for the History of Medicine
Here is Dr. Carole Reeves’ summary of her talk (do not miss it if you have medical ancestry!) ‘Do you have a doctor in the house? Or a dentist, optician, vet, nurse, physiotherapist, pharmacist, or even patient? Most family historians have an encyclopaedic knowledge of genealogical resources but the scope and accessibility of medical records often fox the most ardent researchers. This talk will provide information on most of the medical resources you can access to begin hunting for ancestors including those who migrated from Jewish communities in Eastern Europe, and German migrants and refugees prior to the Second World War.’
5.00 - 8.00: December Social -- Please contact the chairperson, Noele Barnfield, as soon as possible if you wish to attend--numbers are limited due to the size of the room.
